Witches’ Sabbath plunges the viewer into a chaotic vision of the supernatural. At its center, an old woman astride a goat sets the scene’s frenzied energy, while grotesque figures twist and howl around her, rendered with a precision that heightens their eerie realism. Saftleven combines wit, menace, and naturalistic detail to create a nightmarish yet controlled composition.
Cornelis Saftleven (1607–1681) was a Dutch painter celebrated for his imaginative genre scenes and fantastical imagery. Drawing on the legacy of Hieronymus Bosch and Jan Brueghel, he blended theatrical invention with meticulous technique, creating works that entertained and intrigued a sophisticated 17th-century audience while exploring the dark edges of folklore and the supernatural.

Due to variation in monitor settings, finished products may appear different than they do on your screen.
To offer a broad range of sizes, each image is carefully adapted to its canvas dimensions. As a result, slight variations in composition may occur, and some reproductions may differ subtly from the original work.
Our canvases feature mirrored edges to create a seamless wrap-around effect without altering the original image. This effect is more noticeable on smaller canvas sizes.
